Classes

I have art classes and summer camps and workshops at my studio.

Doodle Art & Design Kid Art Classes

The Doodle Art & Design studio can accommodate six students at a time. Each week we explore a different topic, and all classes begin with a slideshow of images and inspiration for each day's topic. Following the slideshow everyone gathers their materials and begins working on their projects. I believe in using the finest artist materials and tools, and we stop working a few minutes before the end of each class to allow for clean up and discussion. Check the schedule below to see what is offered and click here to sign up online for a session!

6 Week Sessions Run From September-May

Tuesdays: 1st & 2nd Grade 4:30 to 6:00 $235
Wednesdays: 3rd & 4th Grade 4:30 to 6:00 $235
Thursdays: 5th & 6th Grade: 4:30 to 6:00 $235

Adult Group Art Classes

At Doodle Art & Design we recognize that adults need to play and making art is a fun and creative way to give yourself a break during your busy life. Bring a group of friends or coworkers, pick your project and book your time! Adult classes follow the same format as the kid classes with a slideshow before we begin creating our pieces. You may bring wine to the evening classes.  Pricing depends on the project. Click here for more information!

Doodle Art & Design Lunchtime Art Program

The Doodle Art Lunchtime Program takes place at Field Park, Forest Hills, and Laidlaw Elementary schools in Western Springs. One week we might look at a particular artist or material, and another week we may tackle a design problem. The students are exposed to a wide variety of art and materials. Classes begin at 11:40 with a slideshow of the day's project and inspiration while the kids eat lunch. After that they work on and complete the project by 12:25. We work fast and have fun! A 6 week session costs $120. Click here to register your kiddo!

College Essay Writing Workshop Series
Based on Write Your Way In by Rachel Toor

Check Back in Spring of 2020!

High school juniors are taught to write research and comparative literature essays and may not have the opportunity to write self-reflective essays during their high school careers. They are trained to know where their essay is going before they begin. College essays are about writing to discover something about yourself that you may not know until you begin writing.

1st Class - Students will receive a copy of Write Your Way In. We will use worksheets and discussion to come up with some essay topics. We will discuss the 2018/2019 Common Application Essay prompts.

2nd Class - Students, and hopefully parents, will have read Write You Way In, written first drafts of their essays. While they may bring computers, they should come with hard drafts of their essays.

3rd Class - Students will come in with second drafts of their Common App essays. We will share and discuss, so they will be ready to work on their final drafts. We'll discuss topics for the shorter essays needed from their schools

4th Class - Students will come in with drafts of their shorter essays and common app essay.

5th Class - Students will come with their close to final drafts of all essays.

All students will be able to email me drafts of their essays!
